Launched a new iOS app: CringedIn

Ever wonder how people turn “I had a coffee” into a 12-paragraph post about leadership and growth? Now you can become the thought leader you never asked to be.

I’ve released a new app this week (or should I say weekend?). After some recent events I’ve found myself logging back into LinkedIn after multiple years without remembering that the app exists. How the F LinkedIn has become such a shit show?

I remember it was a professional network when I joined, for professionals. Instead I found a self-help echo chamber wrapped in buzzwords where every nap becomes a “strategic recharge”. And don’t get me started in the trap thirst selfies, adults behaving like a bunch of teens.

Now “I had coffee” becomes a long post about personal growth, resilience, and synergy sparkled with a dozen hashtags. A post that wasn’t even needed to start with.

Powerful conversations happen when you take time to connect over something as simple as a cup of coffee ☕️. Growth isn’t always in the boardroom.

This made me feel out of the loop! So I made a normal-speech-to-LinkedIn-corporate-nonsense translator, so if I need to, I can communicate in corporate nonsense as well.

Why?

Honestly, I just wanted to launch something weird, small, and fun. Something you can show a friend, maybe laugh at, then just forget about it.

It was good learning around Sign-In with Apple requirements, and to implement consumable In-App Purchases which I have not done before (you can generate content for free, or purchase additional credits to generate even more cringe). There was also some backend work to sync app profiles and accounts with credits, and I had a chance to experiment with AI image generation using Google’s Gemini. Another AI masterpiece of engineering, felt great to use and definitely worked better than OpenAI’s 4o.

Regarding the app, it’s extremely simple. I didn’t overthink the design, and reused most of my existing logic from other apps for onboarding flow, in-app purchases, navigation, settings, reviews, support, … you name it.

It took about 2 days to make. Most of it just tweaking the backend so it would authenticate, login, and track consumable credits correctly.

You can download it in the App Store here. And if you end up using it to write a “thought leadership” post, please send it to me. I’ve already received some cringe fuel from friends:

Absolutely zero roadmap, but there are some potential features I could add in next releases:

  • Personality selector: There’s no need to stop at LinkedIn lunatics, we could also translate cryptobro, or indiehacker lingo

  • Perhaps add images to profiles as well? That would be fun.
